2. Ottsjö & Fäbodrundturen – Family-Friendly Fjäll Hike
On the way to Vålådalen, Ottsjö offers scenic valley hikes. Try the Fäbodrundturen, a peaceful loop great for families. Pick up the gate key at the local ICA store to access the trailhead.

La Gondola – Italian Flavors at High Altitude in Åre
One of our absolute winter favorites! Located at 864 meters above sea level, right on the slopes at "Olympiaplatån" in Åre’s ski system, La Gondola is a stylish, newly renovated restaurant offering Italian-inspired cuisine and breathtaking views of the Jämtland mountains.
Created by the team behind Supper and APO, this is their first alpine concept in Åre, and it’s a true gem. From morning coffee and breakfast to long lunches and refined afternoon meals, La Gondola is open from the first to the last lift ride (VM8). The view from the windows or terrace adds a magical touch to every visit.
Our tip: Don’t miss their Cacio e Pepe with truffle – a standout favorite!
Best time to visit: A sunny long lunch or a coffee after the early “8 o’clock ski run.”
Timmerstugan – Classic Ski Lunch & Laid-Back Vibes in Åre
Looking for a classic ski-in restaurant in Åre with great food and cozy vibes? Timmerstugan is a must-visit—and one of our personal favorites here at Åre Valley Lodges.
This inviting alpine bistro is located right by the VM6 lift station, just a 3-minute walk from Åre town square. Timmerstugan offers a relaxed atmosphere, the best menu on the mountain, and a truly solid afterski scene. The warm interior is perfect for both a quick lunch break or a lingering meal that blends right into afternoon fun.
Lovisa’s tip: Try the traditional raggmunk with fried pork and lingonberries—a Swedish classic you’ll love!

Hummelstugan – Dining with a View of the Jämtland Mountains
Hummelstugan is a true classic in Åre’s ski system—and easily one of our top picks at Åre Valley Lodges. Located on the scenic plateau above Hummelbranten, this legendary mountain restaurant has been serving skiers since 1954.
Enjoy wood-fired pizza, lunch, or a cozy fika in the sun, all with breathtaking panoramic views of the Jämtland mountains. Just be aware—weather conditions can affect opening hours, especially if lifts are closed due to wind.
Our tip: Don’t miss their wood-fired pizzas in winter. In spring, the outdoor terrace often features a live DJ—creating a vibe so good, you won’t want to leave!
Bibbos – Luxury Dining Meets Laid-Back Slope Vibes
Bibbos is where fine dining meets casual après ski—a winter favorite of ours at Åre Valley Lodges. Step into a world of white tablecloths and top-class service for a cozy long lunch, or sink into a sun lounger in late winter with a Stiegl in one hand and a gourmet kebab with a French twist in the other.
Our tip: Book an indoor lunch table on a snowy day and settle in for an afternoon of great food, hopefully great company, and amazing drinks. Leave the kids at home—this one's for the adults.
